Russell PetersWarner Bros.

Those in the US may just now be discovering the comedic stylings of Russell Peters, but this Canadian born comic has been on his grind for years. And now, thanks to the Internet and a growing, rabid fan base, Peters is stepping closer to the front of the world stage.
As seen throughout this DVD, Peters is a throwback comedian when it comes to interacting with his audience. He is effective at playing on racial stereotypes while somehow managing to include everyone in his show and going just far enough without offending one race too much (ok maybe except for Asian folks...they are a frequent target such as when he says "any Pilipino people in the house? (crowd responds) Peter's then says "I knew you were Pilipino cause I saw you staring at my mic wondering if there was going to be karaoke after the show". This continues with such funny bits such as Russell discussing an Asian restaurant back home in Toronto called "Pho Phuc Lai" and Russell interacting with audience members "Catherine and Vincent".
Some of Russell's funniest material comes from discussing his family and his Indian heritage. And while there is some of this on the DVD, his best material in this realm comes on his much downloaded Comedy Central special (which is all over the Internet and in the form of a legally released/unauthorized DVD release).
"Outsourced" is much of North America's first look at Russell Peters. The great thing about Peters brand of comedy is that it transcends styles and cultures. And a little known fact about Peters is that he is a huge Hip-Hop fan and was a central figure in Canadian rap videos in the early to mid 90s while making his name in the Toronto area. What more could you want in a comic? A Hip-Hop fan and funny as a muthafucka.
